Tre Mat was founded in 2009 by Gianni Bortolin on the steep, sun-drenched hills of Santo Stefano as a bold mission to bring back the authentic, ancestral style of Prosecco. Tre Mat is an allusion to ‘three times mad’, supposedly the reaction of his scandalised neighbours when they discovered his divergent methods and principles - an epitaph worn by Gianni as a badge of pride. 

His emphatic statement bottling ‘Finalizzato’ (the paradigm or ‘finalisation’ of the Prosecco style) is crafted entirely from a historic 80 year old vineyard, hand-tended and co-planted not just with the dominant ‘Glera’ variety but a host of other forgotten local viticultural treasures such as  ‘Perera’,  ‘Bianchetta’ and ‘Verdiso’. These are vinified without added sulphites, using indigenous yeasts and grown with regenerative viticultural methods. 

Tre Mat is an audacious and unapologetic Brut, alive with tradition and terroir, a distilled essence of old-school Valdobbiadene winemaking heritage.
