In the sun-drenched hills of Méntrida, nestled in the province of Toledo, lies Bodegas Atalaque—a vineyard-focused wine project infused with reverence for the land, the vine, and the timeless elegance of Grenache. Founded by Pepe Rodríguez de Vera, Atalaque is a bold and triumphant effort to rescue 120-year-old, ungrafted (pie franco) Garnacha vines planted in deep sandy soils that have shielded them from phylloxera for over a century.

Atalaque centres on three distinct vineyard parcels, each offering a unique expression of Grenache—from stony slopes to sand-laced plains. One may be floral and ethereal, another savoury and structured, yet all three share a common thread: purity, lift, and a clear sense of place.

This trio of Garnachas is effortlessly drinkable yet far from simple—ancient vines shaped by time, interpreted with a modern, sensitive touch.
