Mélida Wines is an artisanal garage winery born from the vision of two sisters, Patricia and Silvia Hernández, both trained oenologists and proud daughters of the Ribera del Duero. Founded in the tiny village of Mélida de Peñafiel (population: 38), this project is at once deeply rooted and boldly forward-thinking. Their goal was simple, yet radical: to create a creative space that weaves together the cultural evolution of Valladolid with their own vinous instincts and profound love for Tempranillo. From this conviction, Mélida Wines was born.

Though the Ribera del Duero DO is a region historically known for its robust oak-driven reds, Mélida Wines offers an alternative, modern, and graceful interpretation of Tempranillo. The sisters embrace a lighter, more Burgundian approach, leaning away from the muscular styles of the past towards wines marked by perfumed aromatics, fine tannins, and subtle extraction.

With production limited to just a few thousand bottles per year, Mélida Wines is one of the most compelling small producers in Spain today. Patricia and Silvia’s project is reshaping the narrative of Ribera del Duero, proving that power can be redefined as elegance, and tradition can coexist with innovation. These are wines of precision, silkiness, and drinkability,  tempered as they are by intuition and the elegance of a gentle hand.
